Sniper Elite V2
(Warning: I tear into this one.)
Alright, Sniper Elite V2, had much potential but the bullet drops way too low to even hit the target. To get the positive aspects out of the way; the bullet camera shows the projectile shredding through any vital organs it may hit. As for the negative, it is more of a question of where to start.
You will have a surprisingly low number of sniper rifles in the game. Each found randomly throughout the story and each as lackluster as the last. Yes, it is WWII so there won’t be as many rifles as there are now. But there had to be more than 5.
The enemies will instantaneously get on your nerves and begin to wear you down to begin with. Apparently Germans can only say 3 different things, as one will hear “keep looking” 20 times easily within the first 10 minutes of play. Not only that, but the Nazis will constantly hide from you, and in turn one has no choice but have to listen for them to talk to themselves our shoot in your general direction.
Not to mention the animation looks as if 505 Games asked Pixar the do the character modules. The protagonist (who is forgettable) along with the Nazis are anything but intimidating.
To put the nail in the coffin, a game that has “sniper” in the title should not require the player to “trip” the enemies. “Trip” is a term used to explain how a game knows when to spawn in the computers. Well, if one needs run a half mile to activate the enemies and run back in hopes of actually sniping defeats the ENTIRE point of the game.
